Sara Vegh MD
Dr. Sara Vegh is a board certified ophthalmologist who has practiced on the Northshore and in the Chicagoland area for over 3 decades. She established her solo private practice in Libertyville, Illinois, in 1990, specializing in comprehensive eye care, cataract surgery, and glaucoma treatment. She continues to provide compassionate and personalized care for her patients.
Dr. Vegh received her undergraduate degree from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, graduating with Phi Beta Kappa honors. She completed her Doctor of Optometry at Indiana University School of Optometry. After practicing for one year, she returned to school to pursue her interests in medicine, receiving her Doctor of Medicine from the Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis. Following medical school, she completed an internship at Cook County Hospital and her ophthalmology residency at the University of Chicago. She is on the faculty of Northwestern Medicine in Lake Forest, Illinois.
Dr. Vegh is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the Illinois Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons.
On a personal note, Dr. Vegh and her spouse, Ken, and their senior dog, Sweetie, reside on the Northshore. Dr. Vegh is an exercise enthusiast and enjoys the Chicagoland museums, theaters, the Lyric Opera, and the Art Institute. As an American firstborn generation of Holocaust survivors, she has a deep interest in history and worldviews.
