Dr. Wyse

Dr. Tamara Wyse is a board certified ophthalmologist with advanced fellowship degrees. She has performed more than 15,000 cataract surgeries and now does almost 2,000 cataract surgeries every year. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a clinical instructor on the faculties of both Northwestern University Medical Center and the University of Chicago. She has been in practice on the Chicago North Shore since 1997, relocating to Northbrook in 2010. She attended medical school at the University of Illinois, where she was the valedictorian of her class. She completed her residency at Northwestern University Medical Center, and then went on to more advanced training with a fellowship year in anterior segment surgery in Louisiana. This was followed by another fellowship year at Northwestern University to become a subspecialist in Glaucoma.

Dr. Wyse was one of the first ophthalmologists on the Chicago North Shore to offer laser cataract surgery. She uses a variety of lens implant options including multifocal, trifocal, extended range, and toric (astigmatism correcting) lens implants to help patients achieve greater independence from glasses. Cataract surgery is her passion and she believes in carefully helping each patient choose the right lens implant for their individual goals. She takes the time needed to answer patient questions, often calling patients back in the evenings to answer additional questions that arise.

In 2014 she undertook additional extensive training to incorporate dermal fillers and neuromodulators (such as Botox®) into the practice. Dr. Wyse emphasizes a very natural look to rejuvenate and enhance the face and neck. She performs all of the cosmetic injections herself, feeling that her training as a physician and surgeon can help provide the best results for patients. She spends time with her patients to understand their goals, and customizes each treatment based on patient preferences, age, gender and individual anatomy.

Dr. Wyse is committed to providing state-of-the-art care, and frequently attends meetings to be able to provide the best advances in care to her patients. The practice takes part in many clinical research trials to help advance developments in ophthalmology. We are fully equipped with the best available technology to diagnose and monitor eye health and diseases. Dr. Wyse feels it is equally important, however, to communicate with patients so that they can fully understand their eye issues, treatment options, and preventive care strategies. She takes the time to get to know her patients and understand their concerns.

She is a diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology, and a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. She has been named to the prestigious list of Castle Connolly Top Doctors every year since 2013. This list is chosen by physicians and other health care professionals.

Dr. Wyse is a native of the Chicago North Shore. She and her husband, Joseph Wyse M.D., continue to live in the area. The Wyse's have a grown son and daughter. Outside of work, Dr. Wyse enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading non-fiction books, biking, hiking and travel.

Dr. Bamba

Dr. Sonya Bamba is a board-certified ophthalmologist with dual fellowships in Ocular Pathology and Cornea/External Disease from Washington University in St. Louis. Her surgical expertise includes laser cataract surgery, corneal transplantation using advanced techniques like DSEK and DMEK, and ocular surface tumor procedures.

In addition to her private practice, Dr. Bamba serves as a teaching attending at Stroger Hospital of Cook County and lectures in Ocular Pathology at Louisiana State University. She completed her medical degree at Saint Louis University and her ophthalmology residency at Louisiana State University/Ochsner Health System. Dr. Bamba's approach emphasizes building strong doctor-patient relationships through clear communication and comprehensive patient education.
